9:00 a.m. – I arrive at the office and turn on my computer. Wasting no time, I head to the kitchen to grab my
morning coffee and then head directly back to my desk. I open Microsoft Outlook and begin checking the e-mails
I received overnight. I have various e-mails that will require additional work and/or research, so I mark those
down on my list of items to do for the day. The other e-mails are quickly addressed and responses are sent. I
check my voicemail, take notes if necessary and begin my day.
9:30 a.m. – I review my daily to-do list from the previous evening. I have highlighted items that need urgent
attention. The first item for the day is to process payables for The Tower at Cityplace, one of our trophy assets
in Uptown Dallas. I begin the review process, scan the corrections and e-mail the final draft to the property
manager (PM). Once corrections are addressed, I will proceed with cutting the checks. I must complete a report
for LaTres Adams by noon today, so I start reviewing the comments from the PM. Once my review is complete, I
print the system reports and compile the Excel file to turn in.
11:15 a.m. – The next items on my to-do list are to set up two vendors in the MetLife MRI database and add new
QuickBooks users. I add the vendors and send the Admin the Vendor ID. A new property has been added in
QuickBooks, and the Accountant has requested that I set up all the users for this property. I sign up people
with passwords and send an e-mail to the Accountant when I have finished.
11:45 p.m. – It is lunchtime. I take a few steps to the kitchen and heat up my lunch. I carry my lunch back to
my desk where I eat while responding to e-mails.
12:15 p.m. – I begin to research a few additional questions a PM e-mailed me earlier in the day. She has
requested that I provide her with check copies of various checks that have cleared the bank. I log on to the Bank
of America website and print the checks the PM has requested. After I scan the checks, I am able to e-mail her
the copies in no time.
1:00 p.m. – I begin to prepare my 4350 Lockhill Selma draw for the month. The first item is to verify that all
invoices have been received and allocated according to the San Antonio’s development budget. If any items are
missing or incomplete, I am responsible for collecting these missing items and/or verifying that it will be
completed prior to sending to the lender. I prepare the package and conduct a final review before sending it via
e-mail to Stream Construction for approval. Once I obtain approval, I will be able to send the final package to
the bank.

2:30 p.m. – After returning a number of phone calls and responding to various e-mails, it is time to embark on a
new straight-line rent schedule for a property. I begin entering the leases. The building is rather large;
therefore, the schedule is long. I finish the schedule and enter the adjustment for the month. I also send the PM
the estimates to include in the 2009 budget.
3:40 p.m. – I have received all corrections on the Cityplace Payables. I cut the checks and hand them off to
another accountant to review and check for W-9’s. While the checks are under review, I prepare the FedEx envelope
for delivery to The Tower at Cityplace.
4:30 p.m. – I get the checks back and place them in the FedEx envelope addressed to Cityplace. I carry the
package upstairs to the front desk and hand it to our receptionist to be placed in tonight’s shipping.
5:00 p.m. – Another PM has e-mailed me reclasses and accruals for the property. I review and record the journal
entries. Also, I jot down on my calendar that the loan payment is due in a few days. I process the check, make
a copy for our records and prepare a FedEx envelope for delivery. I initiate the delivery online and print out
the label. Once again, I make my way upstairs to deliver the second package.
5:30 p.m. – PM calendars for the next month are due tomorrow, so I begin updating and sending out the calendars
for approval.
6:00 p.m. – Before I leave for the day, I review my calendar and organize my daily to-do list for the following
day.
